Top Houston Attractions

One of my favorite things about living in The Woodlands is that it’s within driving distance of all the great things that the Houston area has to offer. I had several friends who had lived near Houston and always talked about how much they loved it and couldn’t wait to move back. Now that I’ve lived here, I totally hear that beacon that calls Houstonians back to their homeland. Check out some of these great Houston attractions & be sure to take advantage of the CityPass for Houston’s top 5 attractions:

Music Venues

House of Blues, Miller Outdoor Theater, White Oak Music Hall, & More!

With TONS of great venues, it’s absolutely worth getting emails from sites like eventbrite.com or livenation.com to know what popular & up-and-coming artists are performing in and around Houston.

Houston Zoo

From the African Elephants to the Antarctic Penguins, the Houston Zoo has created a wonderful home for animals from all over the world. Not only does the zoo help protect these animals from dangerous poachers, but they also provide education & donation opportunities to raise awareness for the conservation of these animals and their disappearing natural habitats. Join the ‘Flock’ to gain access to special events!

Houston Aquarium

The Aquarium is truly a place of wonder & experiences! With incredible displays, fish tanks, and even a touch pool, it’s no wonder this is a popular spot for locals & tourists alike.

NASA

‘Houston, we have liftoff!’ is Texas’ version of the shot heard ‘round the world! Check out the Houston Space Center to learn all about space, touch a moon rock, & see how the astronauts live.

Sporting Events

Sports fans rejoice, because if there’s a sport you love, most likely Houston has a sports team for it. In fact, Houston as 7 professional sports teams! Want to catch some sporting events? Visit this website to get allllll the info!

Galveston & Kemah Boardwalk

If you love that beach life with a little bit of brown water, then you’ll love Galveston! Okay, so maybe we don’t have the prettiest beaches. But you’re going to have a great experience and get to soak up some sun while putting toes in the sand. Be sure to hit up Kemah Boardwalk even if you’re not a carnival type person.

Museums

Museums get kind of a bad rep as being boring. But the museums that are located in Houston are anything but boring! You’ll enjoy immersive experiences, education, and a memory you’ll not want to forget!

Check out local museums but also some pop-culture museums like The Color Factory!

Galleria

Big time shopper or not…you NEED to go to the Galleria just once. Like, for real. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It’s got over 400 stores and over 60 eateries! Wear some comfy shoes and be ready to see some pretty cool stuff!

Cockrell Butterfly Sanctuary

I’ll be honest, I’ve never understood why butterfly sanctuaries were such a big deal….until I went to one. It’s incredible seeing so many different species all at once. Just be sure to watch where you’re stepping because some species will take a nap on the ground!

Moody Gardens

These gardens are truly something special. Not only is it full of natural beauty, but they even host really cool events like the Festival of Lights. It may be a bit of a drive depending on where you live, but it’s for sure worth it! In fact, they even have a hotel & spa you can book while enjoying your stay!

Waterwall Park

It’s a fountain but like…WAY bigger! It’s not necessarily a trip to make unless you’re also hitting up other close by attractions. But it’s absolutely something worth taking the time to see!

The Hobby Center

Musicals, ballets, & plays. The Hobby Center is a fantastic venue that brings in incredible performances from literally all over the world! In fact, they even have an Autism Theater Initiative that strives to make performing arts accessible to everyone.
