Top 5 Things to Know About Living in Montgomery County

Living here for the past 14ish years, there’s some things I’ve learned that you definitely need to know before moving here. Having lived in the desert for the first 12 years of my life, then living by the coast before settling in the Houston area, there were some things that definitely took some getting used to. So my friends, here’s a few tips I’ve learned about living in Montgomery County!

  1. Have a generator - I’m not sure what about this area makes us lose power all the time, but it’s a thing. Maybe I’m just not used to rain storms still, maybe it really is a more prevalent occurrence here, either way, a generator is not a bad idea. Especially if you have littles or elderly in the home.

  2. Have rain gear in your car at all times - One thing I hear over & over from newcomers is how shocked they are by how often it rains and how suddenly it can rain. Having at least an umbrella and/or rain jacket in your car will definitely come in clutch. I also recommend keeping at least a pair of slides in your vehicle so if you need to dash through the rain, you can swap into them and keep your regular shoes dry for when you go into the office. Wet socks are the actual worst.

  3. Anti-Mosquito your life - If you are like me & prone to mosquito bites, this will save your sanity. Have your home sprayed regularly for mosquitoes, keep bug spray in your bag & your car, anti-itch cream or stickers, and bug zapper for inside your home. I can send you recommendations for each of these that work better than anything I’ve tried so far… and I’m pretty sure I have tried it ALL. Click HERE to find my recs on Amazon. 4. Know someone who knows a guy - From tree services, to roofers, to interior designers, it comes in handy knowing someone who knows a guy. If you’re looking for great local businesses to help with your home ownership needs, I’m your gal who knows a guy. I’m not just here to be your real estate agent, I’m here to be a resource!

  5. Get online - WoodlandsOnline.com is a major go-to source for Montgomery County. Buy, sell, job search, find events, & more, all in one place. There’s also some great social medias you’ll want to follow too. Click HERE to find them on IG!
